Churches pushed out of town

Post by Denise » Thu Jul 11, 2019 9:19 am

Churches are facing targeted, invidious discrimination.

Local governments and municipalities are using zoning and other local ordinances to discriminate against Christian organizations and severely limit their mission and purpose. They are preventing churches and ministries from using their own property for religious activities and education.

They are literally pushing churches out of town.

In some cases, it’s direct anti-Christian animus. Other times, it’s pure greed because churches don’t pay taxes. Regardless, it violates federal law, and we’re fighting to stop it.

Federal laws like the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) require that churches and religious institutions be treated equally with similar secular businesses and groups.

We’re engaged in many of these cases at all levels. In fact, we just won a major victory as one locality withdrew its discriminatory policy once we got involved.

We are in the final stages of preparing to file a new lawsuit in another case where a Christian organization has faced incidences of hostility and discrimination by county officials in violation of several federal laws.

As we prepare to file our lawsuit, take action with us.
