Ssome of the pictures are so sad. It is hard to believe.

Extraordinary that Pope Benedict was laid to rest in St John Paul II's initial tomb before JPII became a saint and his remains had to be relocated.
Here he prays at his dear friend's resting place. What a bond they shared. (loyalty, friendship, respect, )

Benedict XVI will be interred in the Vatican crypt in the same spot where Pope John Paul II was buried before his beatification.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni confirmed the site of Benedict’s tomb to journalists on Jan. 2, the first day the pope emeritus’ body was laid in state in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Benedict’s death at age 95 was announced in Rome on Dec. 31. Benedict XVI’s coffin will be carried to the crypt under the central part of St. Peter’s Basilica for interment after his funeral Mass on January 5.

St. John Paul II’s tomb was in the crypt from the date of his funeral April 8, 2005, until April 29, 2011, when his casket was moved to the upper part of St. Peter’s Basilica a few days before his beatification ceremony.

St. John XXIII was also previously buried in the same place, which is fewer than 100 feet from the tomb of St. Peter the Apostle, the Catholic Church’s first pope.

The area is on the north side of the central part of the Vatican crypt. On the wall above the spot, there is an image of the Virgin Mary and the child Jesus flanked by angels.

In his new book Archbishop Georg Gänswein writes that Pope Benedict enjoyed having the volumes of Cardinal Pell’s Prison Journal read to him.
May they both gaze on Christ’s face forever.
Now they are enjoying each other's company in their Father's House.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

i recall reading in one of Cardinal Pell's volumes (or perhaps it was an interview Cardinal Pell gave).....but he was encouraged when Pope Benedict wrote to him in prison, supporting him and believing in his innocence.

That is a beautiful cathedral. I don't think the Dallas cathedral looks too much like one. There is a beautiful church in Louisiana I used to attend that looks more like a cathedral than the one here. Thanks for sharing your day with us. I pray Pope Benedict is enjoying the Beatific Vision along with his great friend Pope Saint JPII and of course Cardinal Pell.

Amen I pray they are also.
I continue to pray daily for Pope Benedict's and Cardinal Pell's souls.

It will be unusual to receive a new prayer card from Opus Angelorum with another priest to pray for as since just after Pope Benedict's resignation as Pontiff in 2013 he has been the name on the card of "adopted spiritual priest to pray for." sent to me every year.

I will however continue to pray for his soul and for his intercession for us.

May they all rest in peace, through the mercy of the infinite God who loves us all
