I'm guessing the family would be made more aware
Her immediate family, but the bishop of her diocese would most probably be the first to know anything new. There are so many extended family members that it would be impossible to notify them all. And, as far as I know, I am pretty sure she has only one sibling left, John Dale Richard, who is about 81 now. He and her foundation would probably be next to know after the bishop. My cousin Charles Richard, who was a member of the foundation that pushed for her canonization for years always kept me informed but he has passed away right after my mom. So, I find out things just like everyone else.
