Petition Padre Pio on June 16th.

The greatest friends we have are those who are in heaven cheering us on as we struggle to overcome our sinful nature and live the Christian life.

Petition Padre Pio on June 16th.

Post by Denise »

June 16th is the day Padre Pio was canonized. It has been suggested to me that if you have any needs or concerns to ask for Padre Pio's intercession on this day.
Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

From Fr. Paul

Yesterday or today is day #1 of the Novena in honor of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, during the month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart.

Today, the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, is indeed the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.

On this day, 20 years ago, St. Padre Pio was Canonized by St. John Paul II.

I had to laugh because on June 14th I began to read again "Padre Pio Under Investigation" by Francesco Castelli. This new info on the Saint came out when Pope BXVI opened the Vatican Archives up to and including 1939.

Only on Wednesday, June 15 did I realize that I happened to pick up and read the book on the 101st anniversary of the FIRST full day of the FIRST investigation of the Saint. The book is available on Amazon or KINDLE.

That meant that the report from the FIRST Vatican investigation could be studied by people outside the Vatican, hence the book by Francesco Castelli. Wow!

The FIRST Vatican investigation of the Saint began on June 14, 1921 and lasted about 10 days or so. Everyone connected with it was sworn to secrecy. That's why the archival info is so important. Books written BEFORE 2006 are good but obviously incomplete.

At the Vatican, St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina was canonized on June 16, 2002 which coincided with the investigation which began on June 14,1921. Too many in the Vatican have no sense of irony. Ha!

St. Pio died in 1968, a Saint of modern times. I was in grade school when he died.

His life was centered on the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. His Spiritual/Confessor Padre Dolindo Ruotolo's "Surrender Novena" attests to that too.

His life was centered on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass which gives us the "Corpus Christi."
And for all of this he was investigated by the "deep state" of the Vatican in 1921 and exonerated. The exoneration was hidden for almost a century, etc....

It makes you wonder why anyone is Catholic.
St. Peter said it best: "Lord, to whom shall we go?"

May God bless you!

you also reminded me of a book i purchased last year - Padre Pio Spiritual Direction for every day.

Its a fascinating book which incorporates a daily message which I had been following daily since last year but now when i went to read "today's" spiritual message, I was gobsmacked that i hadnt read it since feb 20 this year :O
I've lost all concept of time....i thought i was only a few days / a week at best behind..

the book contains spiritual direction letters to his adopted children - quite relevant for our times today even.

thanks for the heads - up .....i will catch up the 3 and half months i hadnt looked at it as i dont want to miss any of St Padre Pio's writings / advice.
