Kneeling and the selective “listening” of synodality

Post by Denise »

Cardinal Cupich’s recent letter has to be read as a not-so-subtle devaluation of the Church’s traditional liturgical piety in favor of a valorization and freeze-framing of Baby Boomer “Muskrat Love” spiritualities of saccharine superficialities.

Devotion to the souls in Purgatory contains in itself all the works of mercy, which supernaturalized by a spirit of faith, should merit us Heaven. de Sales

It grieves me to say this, but while the synod was posed with the question of how to bring people back to the church, francis' pontificate is driving them away. Our parish is in the process of rejuvenating its Youth ministry program. While mission and community are important, what the younger ones miss is the sacredness of the church. It has become too modern for their liking.

If we wanted to share community time by going to a bowling alley, we could just go with our friends. This is not what church is about. We seek the deeper, solemn aspects of yester year as depicted in films and books and documents.
It grieves me to think this pontificate has no clue.
Dabbling in changing things that cannot be changed.
Removing high ranking Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops (some excommunicated) that voice their concerns.
Removing the most holy Latin Mass, the pinnacle of sacredness and tradition and modernity also.
(How would he like it if the next pope removes the mass in Bergoglio's native tongue?) Bizarre

Francis will be deposed....but in God's time
how merciful is our Lord to grant him such time to repent and stop attacking the Holy Catholic Church
God's patience knows no bounds.
"He who followeth Me, walketh not in darkness." sayeth the Lord
