Urgent email prayer request

Charlie is a son of a neighbor of our son and wife. He collapsed last week and went to ER at St E’s and the rushed to Children’s in Cincy. Has bowel surgery – found a rare birth defect that no one knew about. Anyway, to make a long story short they are attempting to usurp their parental right and want to harvest his organs; his heart is beating and appears to be breathing on his own or with the assistance of a ventilator (not sure) which means the lung are working. They say he is “Brain Dead” and they want his organs.

The family has been in touch with Dr Paul Byrne, an expert on Brain Death, who is guiding them along.
He recommended that the hospital perform a certain test but the hospital would only do the test if they would donate Charley’s organs – blackmail. Don’t forget that Mary and Dr Byrne have preached about the big money in organ harvesting – up to 5 million dollars / person.

They have an attorney working on this to get an injunction against the hospital to stop that process. Dr Byrne has volunteered to treat him at home. Terry Schiavo Foundation is also helping with legal advise.
They are to run a brain test at 11:00 am Monday and if the test fails, the hospital may,can,will take custody of Charley and remove his organs.

He and his family (including 9 other children) need a lot of prayers –

Restraining order was granted this morning. Hospital can't terminate Charlie life against parents' wishes.

Essentially, it all comes down to the hospital wants to harvest Charlie's organs.

I don't think the parents are under any illusion Charlie's time may be limited...they just want it to be on God's time, not organ harvest time. (Organs have to be alive to harvest them -except cornea and skin).

Some positive signs for Charlie....stable bp, and now rising, rapid rise in hr and bp if anything is done to him.... his hypothalamus is clearly functioning. So those are encouraging. Thanks for the continued prayers.

Update on Charlie:

PLEASE, all you prayer warriors out there, you have all been absolutely amazing and your prayers have certainly carried us through these last couple weeks... please continue fighting for Charlie with us. God is CLEARLY in this with each of us.... He has opened one door after another.

For anyone who doesn’t know, yesterday, with only a half hour to spare before the hospital was ready to perform their brain death exam, our attorneys were able to obtain a restraining order against the hospital!!! They’ve been very clear they think he’s brain dead and we’ve been VERY clear we think he deserves time. To our point, yesterday afternoon, he had a clear pupillary response to light!!!! Clearly not brain dead!

At 3pm (we waited until Mercy Hour) today we got multiple pupillary responses in his right eye!
Did best we could record it but not great because of light blocking
We called the nurse in and he reacted 3 more times. She agreed she saw it and charted it. Then the resident came in and saw it! She saw our video too. Then, the doctor that has been so vicious and adamant about brain death test came in. She FINALLY admitted that he no longer meets the criteria for the brain death. While she was in the room, we observed something NEW..... When the nurse whipped off his blankets, he instantly got serious goosebumps all up and down his arms and legs!!! Clearly, he felt the cold!

We hope you all know how deeply we appreciate all your prayers and sacrifices. Each time I get notes of various Masses and prayers, I’m overwhelmed and humbled, and I know I’ve said that to many, but I wish I could say it enough to reach everyone . May GOD bless each and every single one of you❤

From Julie yesterday:
On the plus side, Charlie is having more reactions to things. He definitely got startled this morning... heart rate doubled to 220's. He is clearly responding to things now and they all see it. We got lots of lines out and off today, so he's looking better and way more comfortable.

Charlie's family said Charlie would have a tracheotomy tomorrow and abdominal surgery next week. Both must go perfectly in order for Charlie to be moved.

Charlie started triggering the vent as well as breathing over it! They had the rate ex set for 18 breaths and he was pushing 23-24
3 docs confirmed (total disbelief - attendants spent at least half an hour trying to disprove and could not!)

PM update re Charlie. (they are comin' in fast & furious and all GOOD)

This is Charlie. He is experiencing miracles and I am positive it is from all the prayers for him.
