Saint Anastasius was a Tribune in the imperial Roman army in the reign of Emperor Decius; corniculario, a sort of justice of the peace. Anastasius converted when he saw the courage and faith of martyrs that he was torturing to death. Soon after, Anastasius was arrested for his new faith and martyred with all his family and servants.
He was beheaded in the persecution of Decius, under the governor Antiochus in 251 on the Via Lata, outside the east gate of Camerino, Italy
