I guess I need a gun around here
We have a shotgun, but I need a pistol that shoots bullet bird shot something to deter but not kill.
When the weather warmed up Thursday, I took Grayson outside to ride on his tractor. We got to the end of the driveway and the little dog across the street came yapping and I shooed it away and turned around to talk to Grayson. The next thing I heard was the little dog screaming and saw a pit bull attacking it right in my yard. I was afraid for Grayson and made him run to the deck and I walked toward the dog fight and was yelling at the dog to stop but it didn’t do any good. It was killing that little Schnauzer.
Then I saw the guy coming from where the dog lived, and he had a stick and all he did was shoo the big dog off the little one and start to go home. He didn’t even check to see if the little guy was okay. I yelled at him and told him he had better keep the dog chained up and that it was all caught on camera. Then I told him I had a 3-year-old playing out here and he had better contain the dog. I saw the lady across the street come around the house and she witnessed it too. She picked up the little guy and he was screaming.
Later Nichole went over, and the lady had taken the dog to the vet. She also called the law, and those people will have to pay the vet bill, $200.00 so far, and will probably have the dog taken from them. I guess we will see if that happens. I am afraid to be outside with Grayson. I am so thankful it didn’t attack us like that pit bull that attacked the 8-year-old boy. Anyway, that was an awful experience for Grayson. He is afraid to play outside now, hence the need for a gun.
Animal control was supposed to file charges and do an investigation, but I haven't heard from them yet. My exterior cameras only caught me yelling at the dog and Grayson running to the front deck. We have three cameras, but I am insisting we get more.
I am thankful the dog didn't come after us. He was about 10 yards away from us. When you live in the country, I know these things will happen, so I need to be able to protect my little man.

Lord almighty thank goodness you guys are safe
i do worry that you went back....that dog could have turned on you.
here the dog would have been put down
are pit bulls the ones that get lock jaw when they bite....difficult to physically remove the dog once locked on
glad you guys are ok but the shock would have been horrendous

I noticed that the people who own the dog have taken a hike along with the dog. They appear to be hiding from the law. Who knows. I didn't want the dog to go after Grayson who was running, and I was between the dog and him. Maks me sick to think about it. I just need some kind of protection. It would look funny for me to be walking around outside with a 20 gauge and a toddler.

That is the kind of dog that locks jaw. They were bred that way for dog fighting. They are territorial and loyal to their families. But they're really only mean if taught to be mean.
I would be so afraid too
I hope the poor little dog is ok. And they better pay for those vet bills!!

I saw a car there at the place today but didn't see a dog. I will find out about the pup. Schnauzers aren't cheap to buy or upkeep.
